Who we are

SK8CULT began in 2023 when Chris Vermeulen couldn't find the classic skateboards he was looking for in South Africa. Frustrated by a fragmented scene, limited availability, and unnecessary gatekeeping, he turned his passion for old school skateboarding into a small side project that would eventually grow into SK8CULT.

Today, SK8CULT is South Africa's leading supplier of vintage skateboards and holds the country's largest share of the reissue market, helping collectors get their hands on decks that are otherwise almost impossible to find. What began as a passion project has grown into a thriving business and a community built on good vibes, nostalgia, and a shared love of skateboarding.

Cultees

Our success is built entirely on our community. We've formed lasting connections with collectors who share a deep nostalgia for the decks, graphics, and culture of the '80s and '90s. Together, that passion has grown into one of South Africa's largest vintage skateboard communities. We're incredibly grateful to every Cultee - your support and trust are the foundation of everything we do.

We ship multiple decks every week, and whenever possible, we personally deliver them in Cape Town. These handovers have become part of the SK8CULT experience, bringing collectors together, creating lasting connections, and filling our Wall of Flame with each new addition. Every deck delivered helps keep the culture alive and the community growing.

Our Own

In 2025, we took the next step in our journey by designing and manufacturing our own skateboard decks. Inspired by the graphics, shapes, and craftsmanship of skateboarding's golden era, we began producing limited-edition tribute decks, a tongue-in-cheek nod to the classics, reimagined with our own SK8CULT twist.

The deck was designed by Chris Vermeulen, with the artwork illustrated by Seamus Casserley. Featuring a 10-inch width, 6.5-inch nose, 14.5-inch wheelbase, and 6.5-inch tail, each limited edition deck was manufactured at a renowned skateboard factory before being individually signed and numbered.

Community

Giving back to the next generation of skateboarders is an important part of what SK8CULT stands for. Through community partnerships, donated decks, and the support of local mentors, we're helping introduce more young people to skateboarding while making the culture more accessible across South Africa.

In Cape Town and Johannesburg, our community continues to grow through passionate ambassadors, skate schools, and experienced skaters who invest their time in mentoring the next generation. Seeing young riders gain confidence, develop their skills, and become part of the SK8CULT family is one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.

Merch

A brand is nothing. A brand is everything. It's not just a logo, it's the people who wear it, share it, and give it meaning. SK8CULT has grown because of the Cultees who proudly represent it and keep asking for more. What started as a simple, lo-fi logo has grown into something much bigger.

Stickers, caps, T-shirts, hoodies, patches, and limited-edition gear. It’s more than just merch - it’s a way to share the stoke and celebrate a shared love for vintage skateboarding.
